Frank Lloyd Wright’s Willey House / Branding & Promotion
Malcolm Willey House.
The Malcolm Willey House in Minneapolis was designed by world-famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Having fallen into severe disrepair after years of neglect, the house was purchased by new owners who were dedicated to saving this important Minnesota landmark. An identity and website was created to celebrate the house and to share the news of its restoration. The logomark is based on the home’s signature fireplace crane, in which Wright cleverly disguised an abstraction of the house itself. The website told the story of the house, it’s significance in architectural history, and relayed the progress of the extensive restoration. The site also featured a 3D massing model, which built the house in stages, documenting each step from the floor plan to the hip roof. The digital model was later made into a fun printed flip book that architecture fans could purchase to help fund the restoration work.
