Public Art Saint Paul - Bee Real Project / Branding, Collateral, Etc.

Bee Real. Bee Everywhere.

In this art-meets-science project, artists Christine Baeumler, Amanda Lovelee and Julie Benda challenge Saint Paulites to imagine a future for urban pollinators. The project activates through the "Office of Urban Pollen Exchange" education/outreach cargo bike and biologically-functional and artistically-designed pollinator "skyrise" sculptures that are being installed in city neighborhoods. We had a honey of a time creating the project's eye-catching identity, bike graphics, signage and seed packets to be handed out to get people started on their own urban habitats.

Pollinator Skyrise Signage.

Public Arts Saint Paul's artistic team of Amanda Lovelee, Christine Baeumler and Julie Benda (pictured below) collaborated with the University of Minnesota's Bee Lab and a sculptor to create an urban pollinator "skyrise". The Skyrise is designed to attract native, solitary stem-nesting bees such as mason bees. A team from the U of M is monitoring the habitat sculptures and collecting data. These experimental pollinator habitats were installed along Como Lake, Lake Phalen, Como/Hamline and on the grounds of the Weisman Art Museum. We designed the identity and interpretive signage for the Skyrise sculptures to engage and inform the public.
